On January 6, 2020, Marcia’s Light Foundation co-sponsored a major program organized by IJMA, the Inter Jewish Muslim Alliance. The subject was “The American Muslim Community, Challenges and Opportunities for Jewish Professionals”. The interest level was so high from the more than 200 participants that an overflow, second such program is being planned. Speakers included: Raheemah Abdulaleem (Attorney and Civil Rights Advocate); Suhail Khan (Senior Fellow, Institute for Global Engagement, Microsoft Corp.); Rabia Chaudry (Attorney, Advocate, and NY Times Bestselling Author); Imam Talib Shareef (Masjid Muhammad, The Nation’s Mosque in Washington, D.C. ); and Rabbi David Wolpe (Senior Rabbi, Sinai Temple, Los Angeles).
The program is part of IJMA’s ongoing programming to address key issues impacting Muslim and Jewish communities.
IJMA is an independent alliance of American Muslims and Jews brought together for a common purpose: to replace stereotypes and distortion about each other and other ethnic groups with knowledge and understanding. IJMA explores bias within both communities to identify its sources and develop corrective action to bring the communities together. IJMA believes Muslim and Jewish populations are stronger, truer to their faith traditions, and better equipped to improve societal well-being when they come together for common purpose.
