Marcia’s Light is pleased to sponsor “The People’s Gala”, a celebration by the Albert Einstein College of Medicine and its Department of Equity and Inclusion in honoring the next generation of physicians and scientists.

The program involves a series of workshops and gatherings to understand the challenges and opportunities women face within Arab and Jewish communities and the broader society in Israel. The program seeks to empower participants to learn about each other’s culture, bond with each other and bring about a more communicative, mutually respectful environment.

Together with ATID Education and School Ltd,. Maricia’s Light designed a summer camp program among students ages 15-16, involving joint experiential activities that facilitate mutual exploration and appreciation of each other’s cultures. Collaborating with Henry Wilson, Donna Brown and others at Y-COP and Lisa Jacobs, Rabbi Lester Bronstein and others at Bet Am Shalom, Marcia’s Light helps to demystify the Black and Jewish experience for children of each background, helping to stem stereotypes and create the conditions for relationships to form.

Guided by their teachers, the students will collaborate to write a play and perform it, learning about performing arts, acting and signing. They will learn in Arabic and Hebrew and bring together the richness of each other’s cultures.
